Why Having a Mix Of Credit Is Important
August 30, 2021How Credit Card Use Can Impact Your Credit Score
September 14, 2021When you’re thinking of buying tradelines, there are many things that you need to consider. With so many elements of your credit score that create considerations for the types of tradelines that you should be buying, it is crucial that you do your research.
One of the questions that we often get asked here at Personal Tradelines is:
Should I Prioritize Credit Limit or Age?
Come dive in with us as we explore the answer to this question so that you can start buying tradelines confidently.
The Difference Between Age and Credit Limit
The age of credit, otherwise known as the length of credit history, makes up around 15% of a credit score. While that might not seem like that big of a deal, it also goes hand-in-hand with the payment history. In the world of credit scoring, payment history is one of the most important things to consider.
The older the age of an account, the more time that that account has to accumulate either a positive history or a negative history.
Of course, when buying tradelines, you want to buy a tradeline with a positive history to potentially boost your score.
All of the tradelines here at Personal Tradelines have perfect payment histories. Pair that perfect payment history together with the age of a tradeline and you have 50% of the ingredients that make up a credit score.
So the answer to the above question is you should prioritize age when looking for tradelines over credit limits in the majority of circumstances.
Of course, there are a few cases in which you might choose to prioritize the credit limit over the age, which are equally important to talk about, though we’ll have to save that topic for another article.
The idea with buying a tradeline, especially if you haven’t built up a history of good credit already, is to get access to someone else’s line of good credit and long history. If you are young and just getting into the world of obtaining credit, buying authorized user tradelines that are long-aged, otherwise known as “seasoned,” is very valuable.
Can Buying Tradelines Boost My Score
Potentially, yes, the goal of becoming an authorized user on someone’s account and using their tradelines is getting a higher score. Whether you see a significant boost or no boost at all completely depends on your situation, which is why it is so important to speak with tradeline experts beforehand. Of course, when looking for the perfect tradeline, the one thing you will want to keep a close eye on is the age of your tradeline.
Typically, the credit limit portion of the considerations can be a secondary thing.
